ARSENE WENGER BELIEVES THE GUNNERS CAN AFFORD ROONEY"S WAGE

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that the Gunners can afford Wayne Rooney's wages.
The north Londoners had joined Chelsea in the bid to sign  wayne Rooney after it emerged that the striker wanted to leave the club
And after the Red Devils signed Robin van Persie from the Gunners last summer, Wenger is very optimistic  that he has the cash to take Rooney in the other direction should be leave Old Trafford this summer.
"It happened to us last year and it can happen to them," he told reporters in Vietnam.
"Rooney is under contract and has two years to go so it's United who make the decision. But we would not have a problem with the wages of Rooney."
Chelsea confirmed on Wednesday that they had had an offer for the wantaway striker rejected by United, but denied the Red Devils' claims that Juan Mata and David Luiz were part of the deal.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho later stated that the 27-year-old is his only remaining target this summer.

Ashley Cole has encouraged Wayne Rooney to push through an exit from Manchester United and come join Jose Mourinho’s second Chelsea revolution.
The Portuguese boss failed in his first bid for the unhappy striker, but Cole reckons it shouldn’t take much to convince his England team-mate to swap Old Trafford for Stamford Bridge.
‘For me, if there’s a player he [Mourinho] wants to come to Chelsea, it would be one thought in my mind: to come here and to be under a great manager. It’s a pleasure to play under him,’ Cole said.
‘I jumped at the chance.
Cole nudges Rooney towards Chelsea

Chelsea believe it is a only matter of time before Wayne Rooney is their player.
But the Blues are resigned to not landing Rooney in time for him to return to Old Trafford in a Blues shirt on August 26.
The Stamford Bridge club will table a second bid of £24million this week and feel they can get their man for around the £30m mark – despite Manchester United’s insistence the England man is not for sale.
Jose Mourinho has made Rooney his prime target, with the Chelsea board confident the Scouse ace will not wear a United shirt again.
If the Reds are successful in their ongoing quest to land Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona, Chelsea expect United will be able to ‘sell’ his arrival as an ‘upgrade’ to justify the departure of Rooney to SW6.
But United boss David Moyes will not want his first home game as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor to be overshadowed by Rooney’s return to Manchester.
And while Chelsea feel the champions have no option but to sell before the transfer window shuts on September 2, they are willing to have to wait until the final days to get their man.
